Greetings Narberth Jazz people,
I hope you were among the happy crowd who came to enjoy The Transatlantic Hot Club last month because it was an evening full of musical thrills from a superb quartet of international musicians. Just to see and marvel at the huge red harp of Ben Creighton Griffiths played with such verve and skill on the Django tunes was such a treat. Special mention for the accordion player Jeremy Lohier from Corsica.
Apparently my appeal for help in last months news has fallen on stoney ground thus far, so I ask again. If you have a little time to spare to attend a brief meeting once a month and help out with the pleasant tasks of bringing quality music to South Pembrokeshire – please give Gordon a call on this number 01437 541277, he will be so very pleased!
I was shocked to read in the Guardian recently that the birthplace of jazz, New Orleans, is destined to be overcome by the rising waters of the Gulf of Mexico within 50 years and nothing can be done to save it. Plans are being drawn to move the entire population inland to higher ground. Link here:-

They are a South Wales based band serving up a heady melting pot of 1920-30s speakeasy jazz, blues and swing with a New Orleans vibe – reimagined, reworked and sometimes rewritten. Jazz vocalist Amanda Magrin (Ms. Maggie) is joined by an exceptional line-up of musicians well known to the UK jazz circuit: Gethin Liddington on trumpet, Vic Partridge on banjo/guitar, Steve Davis on Tuba. Collectively they truly are The Cat’s Pyjamas !

We are also beginning to plan and put together the Narberth Jazz’s 6th Garden Party at Lampeter House on Sunday the 19th July. If you would / could help us with the support and organisation we would be most pleased. We have booked three great bands so it should be quite an event.
