John Gibbon Trio with Graham Pike
21st October at 8:00 pm to 11:30 pm£12 – £13
Graham Pike is a multi-instrumentalist, entertainer, composer, singer and arranger who has worked in theatre and film as well as running his own quartet with weekly gigs in London. He is well known to jazz attenders here as this is the third time he has come to give us a night of jazzy entertainment with The John Gibbon Trio. Graham plays harmonica like Toots Thielmans, trumpet, flugelhorn and piano, he also sings like a legend. When not working he enjoys wildlife photography and driving his vintage Scimitar GTC open top with a large hat and sunglasses on.
He thinks he looks cool.
We regard The John Gibbon Trio as our resident band as he has been bringing a host of British jazz legends to our town for over 10 years, including Don Weller, Dick Pierce and Art Themen. John plays drums and supplies tall tales from his lifetime as a musician; with him on stand up (proper) bass is the extraordinary Ollie Blanchflower, the piano stool is under a young musician who’s fine talent is still flowering, he is Bristolian, Guy Shotton. Guy is in high demand as a sideman with bands in Bristol bands. A first class jazz night in store. Check out some of Graham Pike’s YouTube videos
